Nimatu Abdul-Rahman
Catalyst Committee Member
My name is Nimatu Abdul-Rahman from Northern Ghana. I’m passionate about community- led development hence my intention to join the EduSpots network in 2018. I am a certified Nurse and a mentor. I founded the Savelugu Spot(community library) in 2018, a year after I completed senior high school, to make learning materials accessible to students in a JHS I completed, because I didn’t find it easy going through the school with less accessible teaching and learning materials. The Spot has since served many schools in the Savelugu community, with support and guidance from the Spot Catalysts team and Spot management committee, who are all volunteers, giving back to the community.
With consistent use and increase in impact, the Savelugu Spot, which started in a teacher’s rest room, is now a more spacious, equipped and solar powered facility with tablets, wifi and other IT tools, provided by EduSpots in collaboration with the Savelugu Community to supports student learning everyday.
A community is made up of people and every person has a role to play in creating a better future for the community. Do not doubt your ability to create change.
