Portia Selorm Dzamvivie

Volunteer

My name is Portia Selorm Dzamvivie, a graduate of the University of Education, Winneba with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design.

I am a Teach For Ghana fellow and an EduSpots Volunteer at Posmonu D/A Basic School in the Akatsi North District of Volta Region. I am currently leading a Project called Project DTA (Development Through Arts). Project DTA is a club that I established to bring together pupils from Basic Schools to develop their creative skills.

In the club, We train pupils in Fine Arts ( pencil art, watercolour work, painting), Graphics, Crafts, Reading and Writing, Poetry, Performing Arts( Drama, Music, dance) and Mentorship.

Our mission as a club is to use creative arts and literacy as a tool to promote culture and community development in Ghana. We identify the potential of pupils, develop their skills through continuous practice,  equip them with leadership skills and empower them to lead a positive change in their communities. Our activities are structured to guide pupils to gradually shift from the mindset of individualism to a collective sense of leadership. We guide pupils to identify their career paths and opportunities that are available for further studies in the Senior High School and university.

My hope one day, is to be an astute and globally recognized graphic designer and a development practitioner who will channel her skills gained to support community-based interventions, and continue to be an active citizen in my community to empower and challenge the youth to bring a change in their lives, education and in the community.
