Richard Amoah

Richard Amoah boasts of over 15 years’ experience in education programmes design and management, focusing on training school leaders and teachers in innovative pedagogies, community education for change and stakeholder management at the strategic level.

Richard’s leadership has been instrumental in several key programmes at AfriKids Ghana, including the FCDO/USAID Ghana Complementary Education Programme (CBE), the FCDO Strategic Approaches to Girls Education (STAGE), and the recent USAID/Ghana Strengthening Accountability in Ghana’s Education System (SAGES) activity. He is a trainer and advocate for child protection and safeguarding leveraging community systems.

Richard also initiated several projects for primary school learners’ parents and community stakeholders and contributed to several national education policy developments at the Ministry of Education and other NGOs. He has served as an education innovator, providing technical support to the Complementary Education Agency (CEA) in developing operational policies and strategic plans. Additionally, he was involved in a research project funded by IDRC, led by Associate for Change, focusing on the effectiveness of Alternative Education Programmes (AEP) in West Africa in 2023.

As the Head of Research and Stakeholder Engagement at Education Sub-Saharan Africa (ESSA), Richard is dedicated to using evidence-based approaches to engage stakeholders and improve education quality. Richard holds multiple academic degrees, including a Ph.D. in Culture and Development Studies, and is passionate about using data and indigenous narratives for educational advancement at the foundational level.
