Simon Eten

Simon Eten is pursuing a career path at the intersections of teaching, research and community development geared towards contributing to fostering active global citizenship in young people, with a focus on African education systems and
communities. He completed a PhD at the UCL Institute of Education in the United Kingdom where he is currently holding an honorary senior research fellow position.

Simon recently completed a post-doctoral research role on an ERC funded international research project on young people’s experiences and appropriation of global citizenship education across six countries. He has also been a lead researcher on an internal review research project at University College London (UCL) in which he led in investigating the extent to which the university’s norms and structures support inclusive research practices that promote diverse knowledge and cultural forms. Before entering the field of academic research, Simon led and was involved in various non-for-profit projects on women and youth empowerment as well as education policy advocacy in the NGO sector in Ghana.
