Teshie Spot is located in the Ledzokuku Municipality of Ghana’s Greater Accra Region in the vibrant coastal community of Teshie. The Spot operates from the Teshie Community Library in partnership with the Ghana Library Authority.
Teshie is a proud Ga community with a rich cultural heritage rooted in fishing, creativity, and resilience. Situated along Ghana’s southeastern coastline, the community is well known for its strong fishing traditions and its colourful celebration of the Homowo Festival, a festival of thanksgiving and unity.
While Teshie thrives on culture and tradition, it also carries a deep desire to create greater opportunities for its young people. Teshie Spot was established in 2025 following an extraordinary 100,000 km cycling journey led by Emmanuel Adjei of Bike to My Roots. What began as an epic journey of endurance and reconnection to heritage has now inspired a lasting educational partnership. Through collaboration between EduSpots and the Ghana Library Authority, the vision of creating a structured and safe learning space for young people in Teshie became a reality.
We joined the EduSpots Network to strengthen community-led education and to access the training, structure, and support needed to make a sustainable impact. We believe EduSpots provides the platform to connect local passion with the right tools and safeguarding systems to help our learners thrive.
Teshie Spot currently serves approximately 200 learners between the ages of 5 and 18. Adults also patronise the space due to its serene environment for work, learning and research. As a community-based learning hub, it provides structured club sessions, reading activities, mentoring, art events and the EduKidz programme under EduSpots to support foundational literacy, confidence-building, and leadership development.
Our Catalysts are at the heart of this work. Through Spot Lead training, Keeping Spot Safe safeguarding training, and EduKidz capacity-building, they are being equipped to create a safe, inclusive, and empowering learning environment for every child.
Although still in its formative stages, Teshie Spot is steadily building strong community relationships and strengthening access to structured after-school support within the Community Library.
Our vision is to grow Teshie Spot into a vibrant centre of literacy, leadership, and opportunity; a space where young people discover their confidence, nurture their talents, and develop the skills needed to shape their futures. We believe that with the right support and a united community effort, every learner in Teshie can rise and thrive.
Looking ahead, Teshie Spot envisions becoming a vibrant centre for literacy, leadership, and opportunity. With plans to grow learner participation, deepen parental engagement, and host community learning initiatives, the Spot is committed to walking alongside young people in Teshie as they build skills, confidence, and hope for the future.
