Benjamin Nana Aikins
Peer Mentor (Operations)
Benjamin Nana Aikins is my name and the third among four siblings. I was born to a fisherman and a trader in the year 1987. I grew up from different communities due to my parents work.
I spent my early years in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region, some years in Accra, Fosu and later in Elmina. Going for fishing during the fishing season was one of my our hobbies.
When I was Growing up in a fishing community, I developed interest and understanding in fishing and I wanted to be educated to assist my parents in financial matters and new as well as improved methods of fishing. I completed basic school in Elmina, furthered to secondary school in Obuasi, proceeded to study at Fosu College of Education for Diploma in Basic Education in 2009 and later to the University of Education, Winneba for my Degree in 2012.
As a professional teacher, I started teaching at Batanyaa D/A Primary school in 2009 academic year. I currently organise free extra classes for students to learn STEM related topics in my free time, and work at YB STEM Lab as a robotics teacher.
I also volunteer for Eduspots in the Elmina Community and was among the first batch of the CLEd programme.
