Blessing Zievie

Gender Equity and Child Rights Education Manager

Blessing Barika Zievie is a gender and youth advocate and development practitioner with a Bachelor’s degree in Development Education Studies from the University for Development Studies. For the past five years, she has been drawn to work that creates opportunities for young people to learn, lead and have their voices heard.
Her journey began at university, where she spent much of her time volunteering with youth networks and non-governmental organisations on youth leadership, gender equality, girls’ education, human rights, peacebuilding and community development. She went on to serve as a Community Development Facilitator with CorpsAfrica, living and working alongside a rural
community to support locally-led, participatory initiatives.
Blessing later joined Right To Play Ghana as a Project Coordinator, working across programmes on gender equality, youth empowerment, adolescent wellbeing, education retention and child protection; including supporting the reintegration of adolescent mothers and out-of-school girls, coordinating mentorship programmes, and working closely with schools, caregivers and
community structures.
Alongside her programme work, Blessing has taken on a range of facilitation and coordination roles with young people, including the SAGE Experience Summer Leadership Programme where she supported young people from Ghana and the USA around leadership, social impact and experiential learning, and the KOICA Youth Leaders Programme, an initiative that brought together young leaders from five West African countries for leadership training, digital skills and entrepreneurship, where she served as Ghana’s Country Coordinator. Her consultancy work has also spanned speeches and trainings on sexual and reproductive health and rights, menstrual health, personal development and gender equality, and she mentors senior high school students transitioning into university, as well as university students navigating career paths and academic life.
Blessing is a firm believer in the power of communication to create change, using writing and social media to advocate, tell stories, and amplify the voices and realities of communities to the masses.
At EduSpots, as Gender Equity and Child Rights Education Manager, Blessing brings these threads together to shape safeguarding systems, gender equity programming, and learner-centred strategies across the network, building learning spaces and communities where children feel safe enough to speak, Catalysts feel equipped to lead, and gender equity is woven into how the organisation works at every level.
