Introductory Post: An inside-out approach to development and communications

This first post aims to enable us to together develop a level of self-awareness that will be a fundamental tool in this communications journey, remembering that this is a process not a fixed set of needed outputs.
One problem with the 'soft' active citizenship approaches that Andreotti and others point to, and that globalisation of media can contribute to if local storytelling is not propelled, is that it can contribute to people outside a community thinking that they have superior knowledge to those within.
Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) argues that development practice, and the communications that accompany it, should begin with the assumption that valuable assets, strengths, and potential already exist within communities.
