Gambibgo

Gambibgo Spot is located in the Upper East Region, Bolgatanga (Bolga) East District of Ghana, specifically the Gambibgo Primary School.

Gambibgo is a vibrant community known for its traditional crafts, such as basket weaving, smock weaving, and farming. Gambibgo is celebrated for its unmatched skills in weaving the famous Bolga straw baskets.

While Gambibgo thrives on its traditions, we also value education. The community has produced many educationists, for example, the Attorney General (AG), Dominic Ayine and others, both within the country and abroad, who serve as beacons of inspiration for the younger generation.

We joined EduSpots to channel this rich potential into lasting solutions. This was made possible primarily through a former Catalyst, John Abentara of the Dulugu spot, who used to commute and assist with the EduKidz strand. As a teacher there, he saw firsthand how impactful the spot was and wanted to start something closer to the students of his own community and neighbouring areas. At the time, these students had to walk miles to access the Dulugu library, the only library in the district.

We believe that “together we stand, divided we fall.” With our vision and the vision of EduSpots, we shall make dreams come true through education.

Gambibgo Spot serves as the community’s school-based learning hub, where young people can explore, learn, and grow under the guidance of committed EduSpots Catalysts. We started our EduSpots journey by joining Spot Lead to address some of the critical gaps faced by learners and the community as a whole.

Through Spot Lead, we are tackling challenges such as low self-esteem, reading fluency issues, limited exposure to digital tools, lack of confidence, fear of public speaking, and sexual harassment.

The club is helping to bring out talents in learners, such as leadership skills, creativity, critical thinking, and digital literacy. In the 21st century, where digital skills are more important than ever, EduSpots is giving our learners the tools to dream bigger and do more.

Our catalysts also engage in the Ignite Equity club to improve their leadership and problem-solving skills.

Our vision for Gambibgo Spot is to transform the space into a thriving hub of innovation, confidence, and creativity, where learners are not only equipped for academic purposes but are also prepared to make a change in their community and beyond.

We believe that with the right support and opportunities, the sky will be the limit.

With EduSpots, lives are being turned around. There is hope, and dreams are being revived.
