Celebrating Kejebil Spot: EduSpots’ March 2025 Spot of the Month!

We are excited to announce Kejabil Spot as the  March Spot of the Month! To celebrate their unfailing consistency and dedication, John Nuvormawor, Peer Mentor, Catalysts Community, interviewed the Spot members for insight into how they achieved this success.

Kejabil is a farming community in the Ahanta West Municipality, Western Region. The Spot was established by Sarah Gyimah Danso Dick, Spot Lead, in the year 2024. Sarah was inspired by members of the Funkoe Spot and succeeded in setting up Kejabil Spot with the help of local teachers, who all embraced the idea.

Their motivation for establishing the Spot was unanimously focused on improving the reading, writing and speaking skills of learners in the community. The goal of the Spot members was to advocate for equity in learning environments, which the Catalysts promote through their commitment to ensuring that all learners benefit from the Spot resources to uncover their hidden talents. “Equity for all until the work is done” is, in fact, one of the Spot’s chants.

Kejabil Spot members are most proud of their punctual submission of the March Spot Lead challenge, highlighting the dedication of the Catalysts as they engaged in in-depth discussion to execute timely outputs. In order to achieve this, the Spot encourages open discussion to gather and share ideas which precede each project. Catalysts are then given the opportunity to refine and edit their ideas before presenting them for submission. Their efficiency and flexibility is truly admirable and is something that other Spots should take inspiration from.

The personal successes of the Kejabil Catalysts are also extremely inspiring. Matthew, Assistant Spot Lead, shares that through providing internet access to the Sparks, he has allowed them to develop their research skills by using the tablets to find information online. Additionally, Catalyst Joyce revealed that her experience in EduSpots has improved her confidence “to relate with my students, and is helping me to be a more caring mother.” The personal achievements of these Catalysts are a testament to the numerous benefits of community-driven impact, as it encourages growth from multiple aspects.

As a final note to the EduSpots community, the Kejabil Catalysts encourage others to “take a step, no matter the difficulties,” through perseverance, which is essential for creating a positive impact. Joshua, a Catalyst, also recommends letting the students “build their own ideas and safely guiding them,” as seeing their own ideas come into fruition motivates them further.

Kejabil Spot not only inspires the entire network to put the well-being and safety of the Sparks above all else, but also demonstrates the benefit of allowing the Sparks to design innovative ideas for themselves. Kejabil is well-deserving of the Spot of the Month title, uplifting its Sparks and implementing persistence and determination every day.
