In the EduSpots network, Catalysts are the frontline champions of change in their communities. In March, two exceptional individuals rose above and beyond in their commitment to leading fun, community-rooted and future-ready education. We are proud to celebrate Collins Zisseh (Abofour Spot) and Monica Turkson (Dadwen Spot) as our Catalysts of the Month for March 2025.
Collins Zisseh – From Learner to Leader at Abofour Spot
At Abofour Spot, Collins Zisseh exemplifies what it means to come full circle. From his early days in the Reading Spots between 2018 and 2020, Collins evolved from a keen learner to a passionate educator and leader. Now a teacher at Messiah International School and librarian at the Spot, his influence extends through learner-led programs, especially the DigiLit (Digital Literacy) club, which he pioneered to build literacy and digital skills among learners in his community.
Mentored by the ever-supportive Mr. Franklin Oppong, Collins attributes his growth to consistent encouragement, network-wide coaching sessions, and a deep desire to give back. “Even when no one sees your effort, your impact still speaks,” he reflects.
He dreams of playing a key role in transforming Abofour Spot into a fully equipped learning hub with digital labs, a mini-library, and innovative spaces for robotics and storytelling. For Collins, this is about leaving a legacy of opportunity for young learners in the Abofour community.
“Focus on impact, not recognition. Stay true to your ‘why’, and let your passion carry you.” – Collins Zisseh
Monica Turkson – Powering Dreams from Dadwen Spot
At Dadwen Spot, Monica Turkson is igniting hope through education. With a heart rooted in compassion and service, Monica leads the Edukidz strand at Dadwen Spot, creating nurturing learning spaces that support early years to explore their full potential.
Her leadership is marked by quiet consistency, team collaboration, and an unwavering belief in every child’s ability to succeed. Her journey through EduSpots workshops and the Ignite Academy in Funkoe has deepened her resolve to serve both her community and the wider network.
Monica is helping shape Dadwen Spot into a beacon of educational revival, responding to years of underperformance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) with community-driven action and a clear vision: a digital and educational hub where learners of all ages thrive.
“Serve wholeheartedly and remain loyal to your mission. Today’s work shapes the future of your Sparks.” – Monica Turkson
Two Catalysts, One Mission
Though leading different Spots, Collins and Monica are united by their passion for future-ready, community-led education. They remind us that true change starts with a willing heart, a supportive network, and a clear vision.
Their stories reflect the very essence of EduSpots’ mission: equipping local Catalysts to lead fun, community-rooted and future-ready education (through spaces named ‘Spots’)
As we celebrate these two outstanding Catalysts, we also honour the countless others across the network who, day by day, spark transformation in small but powerful ways.
Congratulations to Collins and Monica, true beacons of impact!
