Dr McAlpine is a  “prac-ademic” who strives to build an evidence base of practical knowledge that enables people to thrive.
She holds over 25 years of experience as a scholar-practitioner in child protection, gender, and governance in East Africa and the UK. Passionate about helping organizations and individuals flourish, her multidisciplinary approach to preventing violence against women and children is guided by her PhD theory, “Doing the Right Thing,” which explores responsible citizenship during uncertain times.

With a broad professional network spanning corporate, government, and civil society sectors, Kate is sought after as a strategist, researcher, advocate, coach, and facilitator.
