Katie Allen-East

Head of Development

Katie has 15 years’ experience working in the non-profit sector, focused particularly on women’s and girls’ rights, education, and supporting people affected by conflict. She holds a Masters in Post-War Recovery Studies and has a breadth of experience in grants and programme management, fundraising, governance, compliance, systems development and monitoring and evaluation.

Katie has worked in senior management roles with international organisations including Women for Women International, CARE International and Conciliation Resources – across both fundraising/development and programme management. She was a Trustee for Action for Refugees in Lewisham, and in 2020 helped to set-up MammaKind – a community-based charity in South East London supporting mothers with young children experiencing poverty – where she now continues to serve as a Trustee.

Katie has travelled widely across Africa, but has a particular fondness for Ghana – as the first country she visited on the continent to teach English in a rural school.
