Head of Operations (Ghana)

Mohammed Ukasha is envisioned; “To contribute to local, regional, and national development by scrutinizing social and economic policies in the light of youth employment, poverty, illiteracy rate, and health”. He is always determined to be part of the solution to challenges facing rural communities and the country at large.

Ukasha’s strong understanding of operational management at project and organisational level, alongside his inclusive approach to ensuring supportive leadership to staff and colleagues is underpinned by over ten years of experience working for social impact civil society organisations at Senior Management level. It is also supported by an undergraduate degree where I majored in Linguistics, a postgraduate MSc in Local Economic Development, and an internationally recognised qualification in Program Management for Development Professionals (Program D pro) Level 1.

As a Youth Leader, across different roles and organisations, Ukasha have successfully line managed staff to deliver impactful project and programme outcomes, covering geographically dispersed locations, multiple target groups and tackling thematically diverse inequalities. As a Zonal Manager then in Norsaac, he was responsible for 4 Districts (not less than 100 communities) and led a team of 21 colleagues physically and remotely where they managed multiple projects across thematic areas of Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, Gender and governance, Livelihoods and entrepreneurial development, and Education. He aided and led in the identification of alternative income earning opportunities for youth and women in Five (5) Districts of Ghana’s Northern Region for the past 8 years.

In his other position of Chief Executive Officer of NiV- an award-winning social impact organization, he has demonstrated his commitment and competence in financial oversight, staff wellbeing, reporting to steering committee and international partners and donors. He has served in many positions such as Project officer, Zonal manager, Livelihoods & Entrepreneurial Development Manager, Inclusion and Equality Coordinator, Committee member- National Social Enterprise standing committee and Council member- Africa Partners’ Council (APC)

He is also very much interested in aiding and inspiring people to realizing their fullest potentials.
