Shaping the Next Decade of Digitalised Community-Led Education: EduSpots at 10

“I have observed the work of EduSpots over the years and been impressed by the impact the Catalysts are making in their communities. I am honoured by this opportunity to work more closely with the leadership of EduSpots as well as the communities of learning that the organisation has created.” – Prof. Elsie Effah Kaufmann, EduSpots Patron.

Ten years ago, EduSpots began a movement to unite communities to create the change they want to see through education. We believe that local leaders have the assets, skills, workforce and power to drive change in their communities.

Founded in 2015, EduSpots now involves over 400 Catalysts (community-based leaders) who are driving change through 50 community-led spaces, called Spots, giving over 10,000 learners access to a future-ready education. As EduSpots reaches its 10-year milestone, that founding belief is both being celebrated and reimagined.

A Celebratory and Participatory Event

In February 2026, EduSpots will bring together partners, educators, donors, Catalysts, and changemakers in Accra for a landmark anniversary event. The gathering will honour a decade of impact while shaping a bold, collective vision for the next ten years of digitalised community-led education.

The event will serve as both a moment of reflection and a call to action. It will create space to learn from what has worked, recognise the communities that have led the way, and explore how digital tools can strengthen inclusive, locally driven education systems for the future.

By working alongside Catalysts, Sparks, and local institutions, EduSpots has co-created inclusive, future-ready learning ecosystems that respond to real community needs.

“At first, my community believed only a powerful authority could bring educational reform. Today, the presence of Dulugu Spot and the impact made by local Catalysts has changed that perception” says Gertrude Akunlibe, Dulugu Spot Founder, now the Regional Coordinator, Northern and Overseas at EduSpots.

This occasion provides an opportunity to honour the curiosity, creativity, and resilience of the Catalysts and Sparks who have shaped EduSpots’ journey and to celebrate the collective impact achieved through trust, partnership, and shared purpose.

Designed as an interactive festival of learning, the event goes beyond traditional conference formats. Guests will engage with exhibitions, networking spaces, and session showcases that bring EduSpots’ programmes to life, demonstrating how Catalysts mentor Sparks, and how community leadership and digital innovation translate vision into action.

The event will feature reflections and facilitated conversations led by distinguished figures at the heart of EduSpots’ leadership and impact, including:

  • Professor Elsie Effah Kaufmann, EduSpots’ Patron
  • Emeritus Professor Gloria Agyemang, Global Chair of Trustees
  • Cat Davison, Founder & CEO
  • John Kofi Nuvormawor, EduSpots 2025 Catalyst of the Year
  • Isaac Kobby Ayibor, Communications and Digital Skills Manager

Together, these voices will explore how education systems can remain inclusive, adaptive, and community-driven, ensuring Catalysts continue to mentor Sparks in a rapidly digitalising world.

Looking Ahead: A Statement of Intent

As EduSpots steps into its second decade, this milestone is both a celebration and a responsibility.

The past ten years have shown what is possible when communities lead, Catalysts have training opportunities, Sparks are inspired, and digital tools strengthen rather than replace local leadership.

The next decade demands greater intention, deeper collaboration, and continued courage.

This anniversary event marks the beginning of the next chapter, inviting partners, donors, businesses and changemakers to help shape an educational future that is inclusive, resilient, and built to last.
