After 53 days on the road, Emmanuel Adjei has now cycled an impressive 5,000km, crossing into Morocco on his mission to raise €100,000 for EduSpots.
After setting off on the 7th June from Munich, Emmanuel has already cycled through Germany, Switzerland, France and Spain and now into Morocco, kicking off the African leg of his journey. He has been powering through over 100km a day, in the sun, rain and wind. He has tackled the steep mountain roads of the Pyrenees, navigated around flocks of sheep in Spain, and connected with fellow cyclists and supporters along the way. At night he has set up camp in an array of variety places – next to lakes, on the side of an abandoned dam and on the coast. He has the opportunity to recharge and refuel in the homes of generous strangers!
Emmanuel will be continuing his epic 10,000km journey back to his hometown of Teshie, Accra over the next 100 days. Despite the physical challenge, Emmanuel is staying motivated by his aim of supporting EduSpots and reaching his goal of raising €100,000. Emmanuel believes in the transformative power of education, and is driven by a desire to see quality education provided to all young people across Ghana. In his own words, it is ‘a journey to build, inspire and explore’.
We have already raised €7,002 via Raisely, and the money raised (link to donate), will go towards expanding EduSpots network beyond our current 50 community learning centres (Spots) across Ghana. This will give 10,000 learners in underserved communities access to locally-driven, engaging, and future-ready education.
Emmanuel has been cheered along by the Bayern Munich footballer Glódís Perla, snowboarder Leon Beckhaus and athletes Jana Lakner and Alexander Askovic amongst many others. Individuals and groups have shown their support by setting up their own Cycling in Tandem events.
