We are happy to spotlight Emma Heleglo as our Catalyst of the Month for February 2025!
Emma is a dedicated Catalyst from the Wodome-Akatsi Spot, where she leads the EduKidz Club with passion and purpose. Her love for children is evident in everything she does, and she is deeply committed to helping young learners grow into responsible and confident individuals.
Emma is often found actively engaging with the Sparks, teaching and supporting them with remarkable care. Reflecting on her journey, she shared: “I was inspired when Cynthia and Isaac from the EduSpots team visited our school. Cynthia’s love for the children and the way she carried herself truly motivated me.”
Emma is also continuously encouraged by the admiration of her team. “What motivates me is knowing that I am part of a team that is genuinely passionate about nurturing children,” she added.
When asked how she earned the Catalyst of the Month title, Emma humbly attributed it to grace and the unwavering support from those around her: “By God’s grace, and with constant words of encouragement from my Headmaster, Ahliyah Joseph Wise, and our Spot Lead, Gabriel Katabo, who always told me to keep up the good work.”
Mentorship has played a key role in Emma’s development. She proudly mentioned having Cynthia Kumassah, Volta Regional Coordinator, EduSpots as her mentor, someone who has guided and inspired her throughout her journey.
Emma also expressed deep gratitude to her team: “I sincerely thank every team member for their support and contributions. Together, we have come this far, and we plan to expand our Spot and equip it with more books so that learners from neighbouring schools can also benefit.”
Looking ahead, Emma is eager to contribute her skills to the wider EduSpots network, especially within the EduKidz strand. She is passionate about promoting the network to more schools and communities to broaden its impact.
On teamwork, Emma believes: “A good team player is someone willing to sacrifice for the benefit of others, especially the less privileged, while setting an example for others to follow.”
Her advice to other Catalysts aspiring to be recognised one day: “Always believe in yourself. Stay focused on helping others achieve their goals. Remember, someone out there is looking up to you, so be the role model they need.”
