Congratulations to Godfred Afeigra of Dulugu Spot as our Catalyst of the Month for July! Godfred’s unfailing efforts to prioritise the Dulugu Sparks have not gone unnoticed, and today we highlight his experiences so he can continue to inspire the entire network.

When Godfred first joined Dulugu Spot in 2024, he knew that it would mean undergoing personal development as a leader and educator, but not to what extent. He has since learned that “true leadership is about empowering others and sparking changes in the school and the community as a whole.” Over the past year, he has upheld “consistency, resilience and a heart for service”, which has led him to achieve this incredible title. 

Since joining the network, Godfred continues to give his all to his Spot. By pushing the Sparks to “take ownership of their learning journey,” he encourages them to find their individual motivation and passion for learning rather than relying on others to pave their journey for them. 

This not only demonstrates the sustainable approach to developing education, which we strive for in EduSpots, but also shows how Godfred’s top priority is the Sparks’ interests.

 

Serving as a Catalyst undoubtedly has its challenges, such as balancing personal and professional life, but Godfred has found his own ways of staying consistent. He seeks support from fellow Catalysts when needed and is always motivated by the impact of Spot activities in the lives of the learners. 

He shares that the “smiles and curiosity” of his Sparks are his ultimate inspiration, and knowing that “my actions open doors of learning opportunities for them pushes me to be my best.”

Godfred was deeply honoured and humbled when he heard the news of being selected as the Catalyst of the Month. It served as “a moment of joy, but also as a reminder of the responsibility he carries to keep making a difference.”

His personal mission is to expand the impact of the Spot by mentoring new Catalysts so they can continue the Spot’s mission in the future, as well as to continue to work hard to push for network-wide prizes to maintain motivation. 

As a final message to the network, Godfred reveals that the key to encouraging other members of the community to become Catalysts is through sharing personal testimonies of success in the Spot. 

He urged fellow Catalysts to take the journey “one step at a time” and be consistent, as this is the real way we will see results.

Godfred’s unwavering devotion makes him entirely deserving of this title, and he reminds us to dream big while staying true to ourselves.
