We are recruiting a highly strategic and effective leader as our first Head of Programme and Product Operations who will take full oversight of the operational running and future development of our programmes and EdTech.

  • Salary: Competitive (8000 Cedis- 14,000 Cedis gross/month, dependent on skills/experience) 

This newly created Head of Programme and Product Operations role will provide strategic and operational leadership across EduSpots’ network of community-led learning spaces (“Spots”), strengthening the organisation’s ability to deliver high-quality, locally driven educational impact at scale. The role will oversee the development, implementation and continuous improvement of EduSpots’ core programme models, operational systems and EdTech, ensuring that the organisation’s work remains aligned with its mission of enabling sustainable community-led change.

The postholder will lead operational oversight of EduSpots’ flagship community leadership programmes – Ignite, Catalyse and Sustain – ensuring strong programme delivery, clear learning pathways for local changemakers, and measurable outcomes in relation to educational access, community leadership, and long-term local sustainability. Working closely with Regional Coordinators and our network of over 400 community-based educators, the role will ensure that organisational strategy translates into meaningful locally-led change, with feedback from communities constantly feeding into this process. 

As EduSpots advances its monitoring, evaluation and learning strategy in 2026, the Head of Programme and Product Operations will play a key role in strengthening data systems, impact measurement, and organisational learning, overseeing network-wide data collection and analysis.  Alongside this, the postholder will lead the ongoing development and embedding of the EduSpots App within the EduSpots’ network of Spots, and beyond, in partnership with MEST Africa through the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship.

This is a pivotal cross-organisational leadership role, with responsibility for the operational management and professional development of our committed Regional Coordinator team, all of whom have progressed from Spot Catalyst roles. The role will offer exceptional leadership across key operational areas including safeguarding, resource management, communications, local fundraising and community committees. The postholder will work collaboratively across departments to strengthen systems, accountability and our collective impact, helping position EduSpots for its next stage of growth. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Spot development 

  • Leading on the tracking of Spot outcomes and development, working alongside the MEL team to use data effectively to inform the wider team’s strategic decision-making, and enabling communities to use data effectively to inform and feed into local activity.  
  • To work with the regional coordinators to ensure the effective recruitment, induction and tracking of Catalysts at local and central levels. 
  • To oversee regional coordinators and officers, ensuring that they offer outstanding coaching and mentorship support to Catalysts to enable community teams to meet core requirements and deliverables, and progress towards our Dream Spot Model. 
  • To support the continued refinement of the Spot Model, using learnings to constantly feed into the agreed approach, creating supporting material to enable all staff, Catalysts and Peer Mentors to understand the intended approach at community level. 
  • Leading the monitoring, evaluation and learning, and related data collection, across our Spots, writing reports and contributing to funding proposals. 

Line management

  • Line management of the Regional Coordinators (who may in turn manage Officers) and the Senior App Developer. 
  • Leading the professional development and appraisal of their team members, and contributing to the development of the wider team.

Safeguarding 

  • Oversight of child protection and safeguarding in Ghana, and wider risk management and promotion of well-being and inclusion is at the heart of all our programme planning, taking a leadership role in safeguarding, dependent on experience.
  • Liaise with the Keeping Spots Safe Coordinator and Head of Education to ensure that our educational approach to safeguarding feeds into safeguarding systems effectively. 

Operations and Finance 

  • Oversight of all Spot agreements including but not limited to partnership agreements, code of conducts and wider local government partnership agreements and letters. 
  • Oversight of books and wider resource and device distribution across the network. 
  • Oversight of any Spot builds or refurbishment works. 
  • Oversight of the community grants application, mentoring and distribution process, working closely with the Finance and Operations Manager.  
  • Working with the Finance and Operations Manager to oversee conference logistics and procurement across all events.

Product oversight

  • To lead the end-to-end rollout of the EduSpots App, taking ownership of delivery timelines, milestone tracking, and progress reporting to ensure the app reaches full operational deployment on schedule, working with Catalyst Champions in this process. 

Leadership and partnerships 

  • To embody the values and work ethic of a senior leader – consistently demonstrating the engagement, commitment, and contribution that inspires and sets the standard for those around them.
  • To work alongside our Head of Partnerships and Leadership Development and Head of Education ensuring the effective delivery of Catalyst and learner programmes via the regional coordinators team. 
  • To play a key part of the leadership team, offering strategic insight to the development of the organisation at a high level, including joining scale-up strategic planning meetings. 
  • To support the development of strategic partnerships, providing information for funders and wider stakeholders as needed. 

Other 

  • To carry out all other duties as reasonably required under the job role, supporting the wider work of the organisation.
  • To act at all times in line with the expectations of staff as set out in the Staff & Volunteers Handbook, and other relevant policies and procedures.

Personal Specification 

Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience in strategic leadership of systems to improve quality of programme and product delivery and volunteer engagement at an organizational and local level.
  • High levels of experience in holding team members to account on agreed deliverables and timelines.  
  • Strong IT knowledge and skills with exceptional skills in data analysis. 
  • Strong skills and experience in programme development and management with an ability to ensure a large team meet their task deadlines, and produce high quality outcomes.
  • Strong personnel management experience, including experience having difficult conversations and managing performance of diverse staff.
  • Knowledge of different monitoring, evaluation and learning approaches.
  • Experience in online working environments and home-based working. 
  • Experience of working with volunteers to drive change.
  • Experience delivering programmes across various regions of Ghana, including rural and remote locations.
  • Experience preparing high quality reports on project targets and deliverables.
  • Knowledge and experience of EdTech development would be an advantage, alongside wider product development, but it is not a requirement for this role.
