Bike2MyRoots Update: Emmanuel is closing in on the finishing line!

Emmanuel Adjei is on the home stretch of his epic 10,000km Bike2MyRoots Journey – and is set to arrive in Accra on Friday 19th September.

Emmanuel is now reaching Guinea-Bissau – the eleventh country on his epic 10,000km journey back to his hometown of Teshie, Ghana. Every kilometre takes him closer to home – and closer to his dream of raising €100,000 for EduSpots’ work igniting future-ready education through community ownership. Since finishing his European leg, he’s navigated the Atlas mountains of Morocco, the bumpy desert roads of Mauritania, and sped through Senegal and the Gambia.

As he pushes himself physically every single day, Emmanuel remains energised by his commitment to promote access to high-quality education across underserved communities in rural Ghana. So far, Bike2MyRoots has raised over €10,000. This money will directly support the growth of our network of Spots – community learning centres – from 50 to 100, giving more than 10,000 learners access to engaging and future-ready education. Emmanuel has been sharing his experience through his Instagram stories and reels at @bike2myroots bringing his followers along for his ride. He has given us glimpses into his long days on the road, the people he meets along the way and his unique camping spots. His epic journey has also captured media attention, with the channel Metro TV Ghana spotlighting his journey on their Sports Direct programme.

Emmanuel’s Arrival

Emmanuel is expected to arrive in Accra on Friday 19th September. His arrival will be marked with a special event at Independence Square, where he will be welcomed by supporters, friends and family, alongside members of the EduSpots’ team. The team are excited to celebrate this remarkable and inspiring achievement: this journey will make Emmanuel the first Ghanaian to have undertaken an intercontinental journey of this kind by bicycle.

The celebrations will continue with a welcoming durbar in Teshie at Salem Park, on Saturday 20th September. Please keep an eye on our feeds for further details of these events.
