Asemkow

The Asemkow Library has been funded by Ms Jane Langhorne in memory of her mother, after she visited Asemkow on the teachers’ trip in Easter 2017. Asemkow, which translates as ‘worries gone’, is a remote fishing village in the western region.

The village had its first school built by a Canadian NGO a few years ago, and we the provision of a library will increase the availability of reading materials.

The library was officially commissioned by the community in March 2018, and is managed by the District Assembly Man and Asemkow Community School Headmaster. The library was fitted with solar power in April 2018, and in July 2018 we led the first Reading Spots Sanitation project at the school.
