Brenda Asiimwe

Intern (Communications)

Brenda is studying for her MA in International Development at Nottingham Trent University (NTU). She holds an undergraduate degree in Mass Communication and an Advanced Diploma in Public Relations from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations UK.

She has over 9 years of experience in journalism and in public relations. She worked as a journalist with the New Vision, one of Uganda’s leading newspapers, before moving on to work with various NGOs as a communications specialist. Her most recent work was with an organization that works with children and youth an experience she says changed her outlook on development and sustainability. She hopes to use the knowledge she has acquired from the course together with her skillset to work on projects that facilitate positive transformation in under-resourced areas by ensuring that people have access to what they need to live up to their full potential.

She is passionate about literacy, keeps a blog, and reads fiction novels. She is also part of NTU’s Writing, Reading, and Pleasure (WRAP) community.
